About Kolbie Marie Interiors
I grew up as a country girl. I always kept myself busy with one project or sometimes many projects. I was often found rearranging the furniture in my parents house. My mom would leave for a couple hours and come back to a totally different space. I once moved a large bookcase with all the books still in it, to a room I thought would be better suited for a “study”. I also moved a piano. Now if anyone has tried to move a piano, I will tell you it is not easy, but as a determined 8-year old, I did it. Then can the drawings. I was always drawing what my parents next house would look like. When I wasn’t rearranging furniture or drawing, I was looking for and picking out home furnishings and decorative items. I was also known to recruit my cousins who lived down the road to help me with my latest painting projects. I look back now and realize that my mom was pretty awesome. She never said no to these crazy ideas of mine. Little did I know that all my crazy ideas would lead to a career in design.
Why Interior Design?
Before I even went to school to become an interior designer I lived in a tiny house. Well maybe not tiny but 550 sqf is still pretty small. I loved that house. My husband and I renovated that house. It was small but it was all that we needed. Small house equals small water bill, heating bill, tax bill and the list could go on. It was through this experience that I learned I was a minimalist. I learned how to create storage when there was none. I learned how to utilize space efficiently. I learned that I could make small spaces beautiful. I want to help people do this too. Big or small. Our homes should be a piece of heaven on earth. A retreat away from the rest of the world.
